One of our favorite new cannabis brands is Spiritleaf. We’re highlighting their Maple Ridge store in B.C., but Spiritleaf actually has over 38 different locations across Canada. As the first Candadian cannabis company to be granted membership to the Canadian Franchise Association, Spiritleaf operates on a franchise model – working with local franchise owners to create a consistent retail experience throughout the country.
The stores themselves have an upscale and classy, yet relaxed feel – with earth tones, wood finishings and leafy potted plants. Customers are free to browse the open and spacious environments or to check in with the experienced staff for advice about what products to choose. Overall, Spiritleaf is shaping up to be a first class cannabis brand that may quickly become a household name.

Burb is another cannabis retail brand with an innovative concept. Burb has purposely chosen to “de-tech” it’s retail environments to provide an authentic and personalized experience. You won’t see menus on screens or iPads in their 3,700 square-foot flagship store in Port Coquitlam, BC, but you can get personalized service from their in-house experts.
Burb says that they are obsessed with high quality cannabis flower and the culture that’s arisen around cannabis over the last few decades – and that shines through in their flower selection. Still, you won’t find old school elements of stoner culture like rasta colors or fan leaf iconography. Instead, their retail locations ooze modern luxury, with soft neutral tones and a clean fresh aesthetic. With everything from cannabis, to accessories, to branded clothing and gear, Burb is a company that is already impacting the cannabis culture.

If you are in the Vancouver area, one shop to check out is Muse. This family run business is deeply rooted in the area and dedicated to supporting local customers and businesses. Walking into Muse feels somewhat like entering a large private library or study. The big space features rustic dark hardwood display shelves (complete with a matching ladder to reach the top), leather seating, and an old-timey globe.
But the ambiance is just the icing on the cake. Offering premium cannabis brands with a concierge experience, the friendly cannabis experts at Muse will help you find the perfect option for your individual needs. Customers praise Muse for their competitive pricing, helpful advice, and ongoing community events.

Another popular cannabis retail store in Vancouver is Kiaro. The name ‘Kiaro’ means light, and you can see the theme of illumination throughout their brand. Their store is open and full of light, with an aesthetic that is sleek and elegant with a fun, contemporary feel.
Still, the illumination doesn’t stop with the style of the store. Kiaro also has a reputation for education. As they say, “The only thing we appreciate more than cannabis is a good question about it.” And it’s clear from the reviews of their clients that the staff is very educated and helpful. You can even get educational tidbits from their Instagram which is full of helpful infographics explaining key aspects of cannabis use, science and culture.

The Village Bloomery is another fabulous option in Vancouver with a strong pairing of elegant design and a focus on educating consumers. Run by design maven Andrea Dobbs, and President of the Association of Canadian Cannabis Retailers Jeremy Jacobs, the Village Bloomery is the perfect marriage of contemporary design and cannabis know-how.
Their store has an almost airy quality – big and open with clean lines and lots of light. The furnishings are sleek and modern with white and light wood furnishings, but potted plants and cute accessories give the space a homey feel, as well.
When it comes to education, their staff are equipped to answer all your questions about cannabis and they even offer an extensive FAQ on their site with information to educate cannabis users. Overall, the Village Bloomery is an exceptionally welcoming and educational store for new and experienced cannabis users alike.
